"Could stay here forever.."

We’ve been home for a couple of days now after a fabulously restful three night escape from the realities of life in Sussex…. which you might think is quite a nice place to be until that is, you’ve visited Percy’s. Without going too far over the top, we thought we had just arrived in Eden. When we stepped out of the car all we could hear was birdsong and the occasional bleat of a lamb. Were we still on Earth? A minute or two later we were hailed with open arms from across the yard by Tony….as if he’d known us for years. So began our enchanting retreat… We were attracted to Percy’s by the promise of peace and comfort but most importantly, because we like to support organic foodies. I could waffle on, reiterating the praise of previous five star commentators but suffice it to say that whatever they’ve said about Tina’s legendary cuisine, the comfort, the congenial ambience and everything else, it's all true. Amazing really. One last mention. Beavers. We hadn’t much of a clue about Beavers before our visit. What I can tell you now is that it’s an unmissable experience to be able wander into Percy’s woods in the early morning or evening and share time with these engaging creatures as they busy themselves er… beavering away. There's just a small, slightly dilapidated lichen encrusted bench overlooking two or three ponds, a small family of beavers and you. Enjoy this small token of resistance to the (menacing) march of mankind. Thank you Tina and Tony

“First Gluten-Free Gourmet Weekend at Percy's”

My partner and I booked a weekend away to attend the First Gluten-Free Gourmet Weekend at Percy's in Devon to be nicely surprised as our expectations were well exceded. 
This Michelin Guide gem is located on a lovely, very peaceful organic farm in Devon, where they have a lovely retreat showing the best of the English countryside for all to enjoy.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. We took a walk every day (you can bring your own wellington boots or use the ones provided), in the company of the friendly farm dogs, were we could observe sheep, pigs, horses as Tony our host, very kindly showed us around.
Tina our hostess was so kind, welcoming and generous with both, her time and her knowledge, she made us feel welcome at all times. The atmosphere was so relaxed yet, the time was used wisely and we left full of interesting, very useful tips, easy to use at home. 
The food has to be said, was excellent! We had lamb, fish, a wonderful Sunday roast that to our surprise was mutton, different desserts, all delicious! We actually don't think we will be eating Christmas cake again as we will favour Tina's wonderful, flavoursome yet light Plum Duff.
Even more, as a gluten intolerant I am used to getting a slightly negative response, to be made feel I am a nuisance when I ask for gluten free options. Tina made us feel so comfortable, she obviously have lots of experience dealing with people with different diets and different requirements and she took all of this requests in her stride. We cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in a lovely suite, I think all rooms are very nice.

“The perfect Christmas getaway”

Stayed at Percy's on a Christmas break and have to say we had a great time with excellent food, company and at a great location. Prefering these days to head away for Christmas it's hard to find a place that offers a comfortable, "non-stuffy" atmosphere where you can truly relax. Percy's hit the spot for us with fantastic service and hospitality provided by Tony and Tina. Although only a few other guests were staying over the Christmas break the stay was made very enjoyable, including a quick tour of the newly resident Beavers on the river on the property.
Tina is a fantastic and very passionate chef, the room we had was great, very comfortable and I would really recommend a stay. We'll definately be heading back soon.

A rural retreat with fabulous food

We stayed here for my birthday and as we slowly work our way through GFG entires in Devon. The room is was perfectly comfortable, with cookies waiting for us on arrival. The restaurant bar was stylish and comfortable with the company of cats and dogs. Awaiting us in the room was the menu for dinner, no choices are offered and for some strange reason this adds to the anticipation of great food to come. Maybe because it shows that the chef puts all her creative energy into that one dish. We were not disappointed. Percy's is well worth rooting out!

Amazing - again

Our second visit to Percy's in four months - we liked our one night so much in the summer we came back for a weekend. Everything about it is right. Unpretentious, cosy, peaceful, tasteful, beautiful scenery - but the quality of the cooking elevates it from 'nice country place' to 'amazing experience'. Every single thing we ate and drank (and we ate and drank a lot) was delicious. The freshness and quality of the (overwhelmingly locally sourced) ingredients is unmistakeable, and Tina's hand with saucing, seasoning and making fresh, vibrant flavour combinations is extraordinary. A simple starter of soleil courgette with tomatoes and pecorino, tarragon viniagrette, was a highlight. The kind of thing where you put your fork down between mouthfuls and say to each other 'this is fantastic'. Lots of nice surprises too - a little cup of intense crab bisque; lamb's fry with the Full English. Witty, pretty, consistently lovely cooking.

All in all, the perfect pre-Christmas break to rest and recharge and spend time in gorgeous surroundings. Amazing wildlife on the estate, with lots to explore and experience. Already planning our returyou want an out of the way break, in idyllic surroundings with fabulous food and lovely hosts, this is the place for you. The owners Tina and Tony are so welcoming.

"Just go there!"

Just returned from a fabulous stay at Percy's. Absolute bliss. From the location, to the wonderfully decorated and comfortable room (we were in "Dill"), to the stunning food and warm welcome from Tony and Tina, you really couldn't find anywhere better for a relaxing and enjoyable trip away. We took our two retrievers with us and if they could talk, they would endorse everything I just said!

One tip: don't leave without buying a copy of Tina's cookbook.

Already looking forward to our next break there!
