THE EDEN PROJECT.Juxtaposed against the backdrop of a disused Cornish Quarry, the Eden Project near St Austell is quite literally a garden and indeed attraction for the 21st century. Only a forty minute drive from Percy's, the centrepiece of this ambitious vision has to be the two massive biomes which have been built into the sides of this once redundant crater. Having recently surpassed its one millionth visitor mark there is obviously something very special about Eden. Lovers of horticulture will no doubt be enticed by the prospect of seeing first hand a microcosm of spectacular plants, herbs and trees from literally every corner of the world. Divided into both an arid, desert like section and a more humid, fertile environment the plant life is as breathtaking as it is diverse. The very structures that contain these plants are in themselves another major draw. Upon arrival you get the chance to look down onto what must be two of the world's largest and most distinctive greenhouses. The sheer magnitude of what has been achieved here hits you instantly, but it is not until you get close up that you appreciate their true, almost unbelievable size. You come away from the Eden Project feeling that you have simultaneously been entertained & educated, glad to have seen what many are calling 'the eight wonder of the world.'
