One of Percy's biggest assets is it's location; ideal for those of you who enjoy the great outdoors. Just two miles away, Roadford Lake offers some truly excellent opportunities for a range of watersports. Brown trout fishing, windsurfing, canoeing and sailing are the main disciplines and guests staying with us can take advantage of specially priced taster courses to gain an overview of everything on offer. Full tuition and all the necessary equipment can be provided and there is a tea room to warm you up afterwards. On the more sedate side, there are expansive nature trails to explore together with some very rewarding bird watching and two bird hides to observe from. Please call us if you would like more details.

A little over an hour's drive in Whitsand's bay, the sinking of the frigate HMS Scylla has created the first artificial diving reef in the UK and possibly the best wreck dive in British waters. Divers of all levels are able to access her superstructure and all four decks. Highlights include the captain's cabin, the bridge, galley, mess decks, living accommodation, operations room and the engine room. Plymouth Dive Centre (01752 263900) offers shuttle boats to the site for £17.50 per dive. Surrounding the wreck, walkers, keen photographers, artists and nature enthusiasts will all enjoy the dramatic South West coast path that snakes all the way from Minehead in Somerset right around Land's End and up to and including the Jurassic Coast at Poole in Dorset.

On a slightly different tack, Percy's are also happy to organise flying lessons for those who have always dreamed of taking to the skies. Taking off from nearby Exeter, you can watch in awe as the scenery of Devon & Cornwall unfolds below as you practice climbs, turns and descents. We can organise everything for you and at any time during the year - Rarely experienced and never forgotten, this is perfect for anyone with a sense of adventure. Slightly closer to the hotel, we can also organise a gliding lesson over the edges of nearby Dartmoor for you to enjoy.

There's also no need for a change in the weather to spoil your plans! If you fancy something a little different then why not check what courses the 'Cowslip Workshops' are running. Located four miles from Percy's on the outskirts of nearby Launceston, they offer imaginative and very enjoyable one and two day craft workshops, talks, quilt exhibitions and textile classes throughout the year. Expert, friendly tuition is available in all of the following; patchwork & quilt making, tapestry, painting, fabrics, wool dying, stenciling, working with willow & pottery and can be tailored to the time you have available. Please log onto www.cowslipworkshops.com for their complete timetable.
